Kampala Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago has addressed the ongoing deoxyribonucleic acid controversy surrounding the late Honourable Muhammad Ssegirinya.

Speaking during a condolence visit, Lukwago urged for calm and respect in the face of grief and legal disputes.

The Mayor called on the widows of the late legislator to respect the role of the mother-in-law, saying, “In life and in death, the mother-in-law holds a special place. Her guidance should be honored, especially in such sensitive matters.”

He advised all parties to respect the DNA results that have sparked public debate, noting that while a second test abroad was considered, financial constraints made it impossible.

Mayor Lukwago also took a moment to commend widow Zahara Akandinda for the care she gave to Ssegirinya during his illness.

However, he encouraged her to remain calm and work harmoniously with the family, especially the mother-in-law.

“This is a time for unity, not division,” Lukwago emphasized.
