Low-Key by Choice, Not Poverty, Melody Explains

When the name Melody is mentioned, many music fans immediately think of “Nkoleki,” his collaboration with legendary singer Jose Chameleone.

However, while the song is widely known, the face behind the name is not as easily recognized.

For Melody, that is not a problem. In fact, it is exactly how he wants it.

Speaking to Sanyuka Uncut, the singer said he values freedom more than fame and enjoys living without the restrictions that often come with stardom.

That is what I want the most. I enjoy having my freedom. I do not like moving when I am covered up. I do not want to be in a position where I do not have freedom. I enjoy being able to go to the Old Taxi Park and eat Mulokoni [Kigere].

Because he keeps a low profile, some people assume he may not be doing well financially.

Melody, however, was quick to shut down that idea, saying his lifestyle choice has nothing to do with money problems.

You have never heard Melody begging for money. You have never heard me in scandals with landlords. You have heard that I failed to do something. You have never met me when I am not smart, and I do not owe anyone anything. That means I have enough.
