Lubongoya Comments on Social Media Doubts Over NUP Vetting Process
The National Unity Platform (NUP) General Secretary, Deus Lubongoya, has come out to defend the party’s vetting process following mixed reactions and social media criticism over the recently concluded flag bearer selections.
While speaking to Sanyuka Uncut, Lubongoya emphasized that the vetting exercise was transparent and fair.
Everyone who did not get the party card was simply not found fit for the position.
He further addressed the ongoing debate surrounding the decision to hand the NUP flag to Nabossa Proscovia instead of Joyce Bagala, saying the party made its choice based on competence, credibility, and alignment with NUP values.
We understand that people have their preferences, but as a party, we must make decisions that are in the best interest of our cause. Nabossa Proscovia went through the vetting process and proved fit for the role.
Lubongoya also urged supporters to remain united and trust the party’s internal processes instead of spreading divisions online.
He noted that NUP remains committed to transparency, discipline, and integrity as it prepares for the upcoming elections.
Lubongoya’s comments come as online chatter grows, with some questioning the fairness of NUP’s vetting and candidate selection.
Despite the criticism, Lubongoya insists that the NUP leadership stands by its decisions, saying the process was not about favoritism but about finding the most capable individuals to represent the people and the party’s ideals.
