Lydia Jazmine on Music Promotion: Easier Today, But Is It Really Good?

While she calls promotion the hardest part of the industry, Ugandan singer Lydia Jazmine says it is much easier today than when she first started.

Speaking on The Ugandan Boy Talk Show, the “You and Me” hitmaker explained that promotion used to mean juggling TV stations, radio stations, and the media, a massive task for any artiste.

But now social media has changed the game.

Now I think it is easier than when we came. In 2014 it was a bit hard. Now I see social media has TikTok. People use TikTok… Right now I think music trends faster because of TikTok.

Even as songs reach fans faster than ever, Jazmine admitted that the shift comes with a downside.

For some reason it is good, for some reason it is bad, because we have every kind of music out there. You do not have now like preferences.

With every kind of music now accessible and trends changing quickly, Lydia Jazmine’s reflections highlight the double-edged nature of music promotion in the digital age.
