Maddox Drops Industry Truths: “Scandals Will Cost You Everything”
Legendary Ugandan singer Maddox Sematimba recently offered valuable advice to fellow musicians on how to attract major management deals and contracts.
Speaking on After 5, Maddox emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean public image and avoiding scandals that could damage an artiste’s reputation.
He explained that major management companies and brand partners always conduct thorough background checks before signing or collaborating with an artiste.
Beyond blocking opportunities, Maddox warned that scandals can also jeopardize deals an artiste has already secured.
To drive his point home, he cited the well-known case of veteran Congolese singer Koffi Olomidé, who faced widespread backlash after being caught on camera kicking one of his dancers at Kenya’s main airport.
The incident led to his deportation from Kenya and the cancellation of several of his performances across multiple countries, delivering a serious blow to his brand and regional career plans.
Using this as a cautionary tale, Maddox urged Ugandan musicians to steer clear of controversy if they hope to land big deals and long-term partnerships.
