Maize Farming Pays More Than Events These Days, Says Balaam
Despite rumors suggesting he had stepped back from the events scene, seasoned promoter Balaam Barugahara insists he is still very much active in the game.
To support his claim, Balaam pointed to a recent car racing competition he organized in Garuga as proof of his continued involvement in the industry.
However, he admitted that the events business is not what it used to be.
He noted that many shows today struggle to attract audiences or turn a profit.
“These days, whoever organizes a show ends up hiding afterward because it flops,” he said in an interview, adding, “Shows are no longer a guaranteed way to make money.”
Drawing a comparison, Balaam suggested that agriculture might now provide a more stable livelihood than event organizing.
He revealed that he has turned to maize farming, convinced it provides a steadier income.
“Right now, maize farming is better than organizing a show,” he concluded.
