Mark Sanchez Stabbed and Arrested in Indianapolis

Early Saturday, October 4, former NFL quarterback and Fox Sports analyst Mark Sanchez was stabbed in downtown Indianapolis and arrested.

At about 12:30 am, Sanchez approached a parked box truck near Senate Avenue and West Washington Street. The driver, 69, was disposing of cooking oil. He used pepper spray, but Sanchez kept coming forward. The driver stabbed him two or three times.

Sanchez went to the hospital with serious but stable injuries. The driver had a cut to his cheek. While in the hospital, Sanchez was arrested. He faces three misdemeanor charges: battery causing injury, unlawful entry of a vehicle, and public intoxication. His bond is $300. His first hearing is Tuesday.

Sanchez was in Indianapolis to cover the Raiders vs. Colts game for Fox Sports. Fox removed him from broadcasts and asked for privacy for him and his family.

At 38, Sanchez retired in 2019 after ten NFL seasons. He now works as a sports analyst and appeared on The Masked Singer. Sanchez says he does not remember the incident. Police are investigating if it was self‑defense. The case could affect his career.
