Maulana Explains Why He and Reign Skipped Comedy Store Pay Protest

Comedian Maulana has spoken out about the ongoing pay debate surrounding Alex Muhangi’s Comedy Store.

Appearing on Executive Media, Maulana explained why he and his stage partner Reign did not join other acts protesting alleged low pay from the show’s organizer, Alex Muhangi.

He said their goals as a duo extend beyond money, focusing instead on other benefits tied to the platform.

“We have different objectives,” he explained, adding that it was difficult to support a cause that did not align with their priorities.

Maulana confirmed attending the comedians’ meeting but clarified that he has no issues with the payment structure.

According to him, each performer collects the agreed sum after their act, and he and Reign are comfortable with their arrangement.

He also noted that payment often depends on individual negotiations and the value an act brings to the show.
