Mayinja Tells Youth to Know the Difference Between Fun and Ruining Their Future

Ugandan band music legend Ronald Mayinja has come out with a heartfelt message to the youth as the country heads into both the festive season and the heated election period.

Speaking during an interview with Sanyuka Uncut, Mayinja urged young people to “know the difference between enjoying their youth and spoiling their future,” warning that reckless decisions made in excitement often have long term consequences.

He emphasized that this is a crucial period where many youths are easily influenced by money, peer pressure, and political excitement, yet their choices will shape the country they hope to grow old in.

He also encouraged them to stay focused, responsible, and aware of the direction they want for their lives.

During the same interview, the music icon did not shy away from political matters.

He openly stated that he can vote for fellow artist Mathias Walukagga, the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag bearer for Busiro East, praising him as a grounded and trustworthy leader.

Mayinja applauded Walukagga’s resilience and dedication, adding that supporting a fellow creative who has worked closely with communities is something he proudly stands for.

Addressing critics who often mock Walukagga’s English proficiency, Mayinja responded with firmness and clarity.

He said, “Language does not lead, the person does.”

He stressed that leadership should be measured by integrity, action, and commitment to the people not accents or grammar.

Before concluding the interview, Ronald Mayinja took a moment to congratulate Mathias Walukagga on his political journey, applauding his courage and wishing him victory in the Busiro East race.
