MC Kats Announces Launch of Entertainment and Media Hosts Association (EMHA)

Uganda’s radio and TV presenters have finally made a big move as they officially launched a new umbrella body, the Entertainment and Media Hosts Association (EMHA).

The association was unveiled today at Kyambogo, drawing presenters from both mainstream radio and television stations.

The turnout showed strong support for a shared goal: unity, professionalism, and better representation in an industry that has long worked without a structured collective voice.

Media personality MC Kats (Edwin Katamba) confirmed the development on social media, sharing photos from the event.

He noted that while creatives like musicians, comedians and actors have long benefited from organised bodies and support systems, presenters have often been left out, despite being key voices in entertainment and information.

During the launch, Miles Rwamiti, who was elected Chairman of EMHA, described the association as open, inclusive and voluntary, encouraging presenters to join for collective growth and empowerment.

EMHA, which has been formally registered as Entertainment and Media Hosts Association Ltd, is expected to push for improved working conditions, stronger industry recognition, and more organised engagement with government and other stakeholders.

It also aims to help hosts access funding opportunities and support programmes that usually favour structured creative groups.

After the launch, EMHA members paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) at Kyambogo Headquarters.

There, they met Patron Hon. Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye and presented the association’s objectives and key concerns affecting presenters.

Hajjat Namyalo welcomed the initiative and promised to raise their issues to higher authorities, including President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, while also urging members to follow legal and regulatory guidelines.

With membership open to interested presenters, EMHA now begins the task of shaping a more organised future for Uganda’s media hosts.
