Merry Heart Suggest Amooti Could Lead UNMF After Eddy Kenzo

In recent weeks, an audio clip surfaced online of Eddy Kenzo, the president of the Ugandan National Musician Federation (UNMF), threatening to resign from his role.

In the clip, Kenzo alluded to tensions between the Federation and the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, pointing to the delayed release of the remaining UGX 5 billion meant for the artistes’ SACCO stimulus package.

He later told the media that he reconsidered his decision following an online consultation with UNMF members.

Now, the comic duo Merry Hearts has added their humorous take on the matter during an interview with Rewind.

Staying true to their comic style, they suggested that if Kenzo truly wants to step down, he should hand over the mantle to those questioning his leadership.

If that is what he thinks because someone can serve then hand over to someone else if they feel overwhelmed. He should hand over to those who criticize his leadership and we see if they can lobby for what he has lobbied for.

They even offered themselves as potential successors.

He can hand over to us and we also lead.

The duo also suggested veteran comedian Amooti as a perfect candidate, citing his ‘financial discipline’ as a key strength.
