Minister Balaam Praises Abba Marcus for Silencing Critics, Particularly Bajjo
State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Balaam Barugahara, has weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding Abba Marcus, son of legendary singer Jose Chameleone.
It all started when Chameleone was rushed to Nakasero Hospital and admitted. His eldest son, Abba, then posted a video on TikTok revealing that his father was battling acute pancreatitis, which he attributed to alcohol abuse, and appealed for support to ensure he received the care he needed.
This sparked mixed reactions from the public, with some supporting him and others criticizing him, particularly claiming that elders, especially a father in the eyes of his children, should never be seen as making mistakes.
Addressing the matter, Balaam acknowledged that elders make mistakes and emphasized that even those who rarely err must be held accountable when they do.
He defended Abba’s right to express his frustrations, noting that it is important for individuals to air out their issues to prevent bigger problems in society.
“Abba Marcus, as the son of my brother and good friend Jose Chameleone, has every right to speak up if he feels something is wrong,” Balaam said.
However, he urged Abba to express himself respectfully, especially when addressing his elders.
Given that Chameleone is in the United States for further treatment, Balaam also advised Abba to prioritize having a private, heartfelt conversation with his father instead of relying solely on social media to express his dissatisfactions.
Balaam commended Abba for his handling of critics, particularly promoter Bajjo, who publicly criticized him on national television.
He praised Abba’s eloquence and ability to silence those meddling in his family business, adding, “Abba is a good boy, and I encourage him to continue using his constitutional rights to express himself, but with respect.”
The minister highlighted the importance of listening to children’s grievances, even if they involve their parents.
“Children have the right to speak out about issues troubling them, but they should do so respectfully,” he said.
Balaam also addressed Abba’s claim that Chameleone stopped answering his calls.
He expressed confidence that Chameleone would eventually respond but declined to delve further into their family matters, saying, “Those are their family issues, and I prefer not to interfere.”
Balaam urged society to respect him, support him, and listen to the concerns he is raising.
“Let us respect Abba’s rights. Let Abba express himself, let us be supportive of him, and let us listen to the mistakes he is pointing out so that we can rectify them as parents and elders,” Balaam concluded.
