Minister Balaam Summons Chosen Becky Over Potential Child Safety Violations

Ugandan singer Chosen Becky is facing questions from the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development after a recent event sparked controversy.

The star, real name Rebecca Kukiriza, has been called in to explain why children were used in a publicity moment that many found troubling.

Images from the private ceremony showed minors holding placards with messages aimed at adults, raising alarms about their safety and well-being.

Officials say the stunt could put children at risk of emotional harm and online exposure, and that using them in adult disputes crosses a serious line.

State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs Balaam Barugahara issued the summons on December 17, asking Chosen Becky to report to ministry offices on December 23.

The ministry stressed that while freedom of expression matters, children must be protected from situations that could compromise their dignity or privacy.

The case may involve the Children Act and the Data Protection and Privacy Act, both of which safeguard children from harmful publicity.

Officials say the upcoming meeting will clarify the facts and ensure that the children’s best interests are prioritized.

Chosen Becky has not commented publicly on the summons, leaving fans and critics watching closely to see how the singer responds.
