“My Mission Is Not to Win Awards,” Eddy Kenzo Opens Up on His Musical Drive

Eddy Kenzo has made a name for himself on both local and international stages, collecting accolades that many artistes can only dream of.

From a BET Award to a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award, multiple All Africa Music Awards, and even a Grammy nomination, Kenzo has flown the Ugandan flag high.

But despite his global recognition, Kenzo says awards are not what fuel his passion for music.

Speaking during an interview with Sanyuka TV, the “Sitya Loss” hit-maker made it clear that his motivation runs deeper than trophies and nominations.

“My mission is not to win awards. My mission is to grow my catalogue so that even when I retire, it will still make sense,” he said.

He added that his biggest motivation is to bring joy to people, whether through music they can listen to or dance to.

As for the awards, Kenzo said they just come along the way, and even he is surprised by some nominations or wins.

“My mission is to grow my catalogue and do the job that the Lord sent me to do through music,” he concluded.
