Mzee Kawato Says He Has No Shame Dancing for a Living

Mzee Kawato has turned his passion into a steady source of income, using his talent to support his family.

During a chat with Sanyuka Uncut, the viral dancing sensation shared how his journey into dance started at a young age and evolved over time.

I learned these dances step by step from my youth. I have been dancing for a long time. My son recorded a song, and I incorporated my dance moves into it. That is how I became who I am today.

Known for his signature waist-shaking style, Mzee Kawato has built a reputation as a crowd favorite at social events and festivals, where his performances draw strong reactions.

At 68, he remains unapologetic about his craft, describing it as both a passion and a way to provide for his family.

I have no shame in my dancing. It is simply a hustle that helps me provide for my family.

He added that the encouragement he receives from fans continues to drive him forward.

I feel happy when I dance because people appreciate it and encourage me to perform.

Mzee Kawato rose to fame in 2025 alongside his son Dexta Rapper after their viral sound “In waaaa wawawa In waaaa” took over TikTok, sparking the widely shared Wawawa Dance Challenge.
