Naava Grey to Young Aspiring Singers: If Music Is Your Calling, It Will Not Feel Forced

Ugandan vocalist Naava Grey, born Asha Naava Zziwa, shared advice with young people considering a career in music during a media interview.

She emphasized the importance of first asking God if music is truly their calling or if they should pursue something else, like football, television, or even politics.

The “Ninga Omuloge” singer believes that many people might enter the music industry without seeking guidance and later find it overwhelming because they did not receive clarity from God.

Naava also stressed the importance of knowing one’s calling, as everyone has a different path in life.

She admitted that music was never something she initially planned to pursue at a professional level.

Singing was simply an activity she enjoyed at home. However, over time, every direction she took seemed to lead her back to music, which she believes were indicators from God.

For those interested in joining the music industry, Naava advised paying attention to such indicators.

If music feels too hard or challenging, she suggested that it could be a sign that it is not the right path, and perhaps a different road might lead to success more easily.

Naava Grey made these remarks as she prepares for her highly anticipated maiden concert, scheduled for Valentine’s Day at Serena Kampala Hotel.
