Nandor Love Opens Up About Cutting Her Dreadlocks

Ugandan singer Nandor Love, born Dorcus Tendo Nantume, has shared the deeply personal reason behind her decision to cut off her dreadlocks, revealing how grief and healing shaped her choice.

She had worn the dreadlocks since the COVID-19 period, but after her father passed away, she decided to remove them.

This decision was entirely personal and not influenced by cultural or traditional mourning practices, as some had speculated.

For Nandor, cutting her dreadlocks became a way to channel her grief and let her pain exist alongside something she cherished.

It was also a way to find new energy while navigating her emotions.

The pain was so overwhelming that I looked for something I really loved that could go with the pain, and that is why I cut off my dreadlocks. I really loved my hair, so I cut them off to carry the pain with them… and also to gain new energy and get back into life.
