Nash Wonder Challenges Ugandan Artistes to Choose Discipline Over Drugs and Greed
Celebrated music producer Nash Wonder has voiced concern over troubling trends in the Ugandan music industry, particularly the growing issue of substance abuse among artistes.
In a recent interview with Sanyuka Uncut, he dismissed the widespread belief that drugs enhance creativity.
Nash stated that substance abuse does not help artistes progress in their careers in any meaningful way.
Instead, he emphasized that personal discipline and emotional well-being are the true foundations of long-term success.
Beyond the issue of drugs, Nash Wonder also highlighted a deeper cultural problem within the industry: greed and ingratitude.
He criticized many artistes for quickly turning their backs on the people who supported them once they achieve fame.
This tendency to abandon teams and mentors, he argued, reflects a troubling lack of loyalty that ultimately weakens the entire music ecosystem.
To illustrate his point, Nash pointed to Nigerian superstar Davido as a positive example.
Despite his global success, Davido has remained loyal to the same team that helped him rise to fame.
Nash believes this consistency in relationships has played a major role in Davido’s continued success and stability, something Ugandan artistes should take note of.
In conclusion, he called for a shift in mindset among local artistes.
He encouraged them to let go of greed and instead foster a more collaborative and supportive environment.
Only with such a change, he argued, can Uganda’s music industry grow and thrive on a global scale.
