Navio Opens Up About Letting His Sons Pursue Music
In many African families, parents are often hesitant to encourage their children to pursue careers in entertainment, but Ugandan rapper Daniel Lubwama Kigozi, widely known as Navio, takes a very different approach.
During his “Navio Live in Concert: An Orchestra Experience” on October 4, the audience got an unexpected treat when his son joined him on stage for a surprise performance.
Their appearance instantly became one of the evening’s most talked-about moments, drawing cheers and excitement from fans.

Speaking to Daily Soup afterward, Navio shared that he has no problem with his children choosing music if it is something they are truly passionate about.
He emphasized that while his sons are still exploring their interests, he is ready to support them in whatever path they decide to follow, even if that path leads to singing.
People are free to do what they want, and he has the talent. They know music because I am a musician, but they also have many other interests like art and mathematics. They are still exploring. If I have a son who is good enough and wants to sing, I will allow him.
