Navio Reveals How “Badman From Kamwokya” Came to Life

When it comes to successful genre fusions in Ugandan music, “Badman From Kamwokya” is hard to beat.

The track, a hit collaboration between Bobi Wine and Navio, blends ragga and hip-hop in a way that reflects each artiste’s unique style.

Speaking on Evening Rush Reloaded, Navio revealed how the hit came together.

We met while I was leaving the studio and he was coming in. He said, ‘I have a song that I need you to hear.’ I greeted him, we walked in, sat down, and yeah, we kncoked it.

He added that the session that birthed “Badman From Kamwokya” also produced several other tracks.

Actually, that same day I recorded ‘Ngalo’ and ‘Nekolera Gyange.’ Yeah! We did a lot of songs in that one day… that same day.

The success of “Badman From Kamwokya” shows that when artistes dare to blend styles, magic happens.

It remains a standout track in Uganda’s music history, a perfect example of creativity meeting timing.
