Nina Roz Questions Kenzo’s Appointment as Presidential Advisor on Creatives
On August 22, 2024, Eddie Kenzo was appointed as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Creatives by the head of state.
This appointment received mixed reactions, and songstress Nina Roz has recently voiced concerns about the decision.
In an interview with Uncut, she acknowledged that everyone, including Eddie Kenzo, deserves good opportunities but questioned why he was selected for the role.
Nina Roz suggested that other musicians, like Bobi Wine and Cindy, who she believes are more suitable candidates, were overlooked.
She emphasized that Bobi Wine, a musician-turned-politician, has a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by musicians and creatives. With his parliamentary experience, she believes he is better positioned to represent their interests and offer valuable advice to the president.
Similarly, Nina Roz views Cindy’s leadership experience as the former head of the Uganda Musicians Association as making her a more qualified candidate to advise the president on creative matters.
When asked about Eddie Kenzo’s invitation to musicians to share their ideas with him to better advise the president, Nina Roz remained unconvinced. She bluntly replied that Eddie Kenzo should “first advise himself.”
Identifying herself and her peers as the “new generation,” she expressed concerns about the uncertainty many young artistes feel regarding the future of the music industry.
She warned that the way things are happening might discourage the new generation of artistes from continuing with their careers.
