Nobart Events on Stecia Mayanja’s Presidential Bid: “She Is Wasting Her Time”
Singer Stecia Mayanja recently made headlines after being unveiled as the President of the newly rebranded National Peasants Party (NPP).
While the announcement was met with congratulations from many, events promoter Nobart Events has expressed doubt about her political future.
In an interview with Sanyuka TV, Nobart congratulated Stecia on her bold move but also voiced doubts about the capability of her political party.
I congratulate her, but at the same time, I discourage her. The political party she created cannot win an election in Uganda, especially not the presidency.
Despite his reservations, Nobart sees a positive side to Stecia’s decision, emphasizing that it reflects the democratic freedoms in Uganda.
This shows that democracy works in Uganda. Anyone can wake up one morning, start a political party, and contest for office.
Nobart encouraged Stecia to pursue her candidacy but admitted that had she consulted him beforehand, he would have advised her to focus on her music career instead.
He also urged the public not to judge her too harshly, suggesting that her political ambitions might have different motivations than what many assume.
To me, Stecia appears to be wasting her time running for president. But perhaps her true desire is simply to appear on the same ballot as President Museveni. We may be quick to judge, yet her dream might just be to have her name on the ballot.
