Nutty Neithan Backs Record Labels in Solo vs Signed Debate

The debate over whether artistes should remain independent or sign to record labels continues to divide the music industry.

Now, Ugandan dancehall star Nutty Neithan has made his stance clear.

According to him, going solo is far from easy.

He believes independent artistes carry the full weight of their careers on their shoulders, from managing money to making key decisions and staying disciplined.

Without a structured support system, he suggests, the pressure can quickly become overwhelming.

On the other hand, the “Bakuwe Kyonywa” hitmaker sees record labels as a source of relief.

In his view, being signed allows artistes to focus more on their craft while other aspects of the business are handled by a team.

This setup, he feels, gives musicians a better chance to grow creatively without being distracted by every operational detail.

Being solo, you have to be responsible for yourself. You have to have the discipline that holds you accountable for the decisions you make and the money you spend because there is nothing else to fall back on. Being in a label, you can leave them to worry about that and focus only on the music and making sure you are in the right place at the right time.
