Omah Lay Says Nigerian Music Industry Is Losing Its Spark

Afrobeats star Omah Lay has claimed the Nigerian music industry is becoming dull.

The “Soso” singer took to Snapchat, saying the scene lacks excitement and promising to bring a fresh vibe to African music soon.

He wrote, “Una music industry is boring AF! Spirit is coming to shake up the continent in a bit.”

Omah Lay’s remarks follow similar comments from fellow artiste Slimcase.

The “Shaku Shaku” singer said Afrobeats is becoming predictable because artistes release music too often, leaving little room for anticipation.

Slimcase suggested slowing down releases to make each track more meaningful and warned that constant output is harming the genre’s appeal.

Their comments have sparked conversations on social media, with fans debating whether Afrobeats is losing its originality and how the industry can regain its creative edge.
