One Battle After Another Dominates the 2026 Oscars With Six Wins
The 98th Academy Awards took place on March 15, celebrating an exceptional year in global cinema.
Leading the night was “One Battle After Another,” directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.
The film won six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn, Best Editing, and the newly introduced Best Casting award.
For Anderson, the wins marked a career milestone. After 14 previous nominations dating back to 1998, he finally secured his first Academy Awards.
Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler, also shone at the ceremony. The film won four awards, including Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor for Michael B.
Jordan, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Score.
Cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw made history as the first female cinematographer to win, while composer Ludwig Göransson earned his third Oscar.
Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein took home three awards for Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
Other notable winners included KPop Demon Hunters for Best Animated Feature and Sentimental Value for Best International Feature.
The ceremony, hosted by Conan O’Brien, celebrated some of the year’s most acclaimed films and performances, highlighting both new milestones and historic achievements in cinema.
