Oscars Leave ABC for YouTube Broadcast
The Oscars are leaving TV behind and heading to YouTube.
Starting in 2029, the 101st Academy Awards will stream live on the platform, marking the end of more than 50 years on ABC.
The move will continue through 2033, giving fans around the world free access to Hollywood’s biggest night.
The Academy says the switch comes as more viewers turn to digital platforms over traditional television.
By streaming online, they hope to reach a bigger, global audience than ever before.
The partnership with YouTube will also include year-round programming from the Academy, expanding the brand beyond the red carpet.
Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Lynette Howell Taylor called it an exciting new chapter for the Oscars.
For movie fans, this change means catching the glamour, surprises, and unforgettable moments of the Oscars will be as easy as clicking play.
Hollywood’s biggest night is going digital, and the world is watching.
