Pallaso Fires Back: “Musicians Have Every Right to Join Politics”

Ugandan singer Pallaso has dismissed claims that musicians should stay out of politics, joining the growing conversation around entertainers seeking public office.

As more artistes step into elective politics, criticism has followed, especially after several attempts have ended unsuccessfully.

Still, Pallaso believes politics is not reserved for a select few.

Speaking to Galaxy TV, the “Malamu” hitmaker said national issues affect everyone, not just career politicians.

The politics of our country concerns all of us. The people who are in politics did not start there. They had other jobs and joined politics for their own reasons.

He added that discouraging musicians or young people from political involvement shuts them out of decisions that shape their lives.

Anyone who asks such questions wants to limit the youth and others from participating in politics, yet it concerns their country.

Pallaso also noted that politics remains the main way change happens, and no one should be discouraged from taking part.

We all have a voice when it comes to our nation, and most things that are done in our country are done through politics. So if there is anything we want to change, we have to go through politics.

His remarks place him among public figures who believe a background in entertainment should not block leadership ambitions.
