The viral posts alleged that the respected actor passed away after being admitted to hospital, with some accounts pointing to unverified claims supposedly shared by his son on Instagram.
However, no family member has confirmed such news, and no credible media outlet has reported his death.
Edochie, born on March 7, 1947, is alive.
Similar hoaxes have surfaced in the past, with false reports appearing between 2011 and 2013, as well as in 2022.
Social media users have since dismissed the latest claim as fake, describing it as engagement farming.
The Actors Guild of Nigeria and members of his family have repeatedly affirmed that he is well.
