Portable Claims Wizkid, Davido, Burna, and Olamide Are Blocking New Artistes
Portable has sparked fresh debate in Nigeria’s music scene after calling out some of Afrobeats’ biggest stars.
The “Tony Montana” singer said top acts like Wizkid, Davido, Olamide, and Burna Boy have stayed at the peak of the industry for too long.
In his view, their long dominance limits chances for new talents trying to break through.
He also raised concerns about the flashy lifestyles often displayed by major stars.
Portable believes exaggerated shows of wealth put pressure on younger artistes who feel forced to keep up, even while still building their careers.
According to him, some of the luxury claims made by celebrities are not always as real as they appear, which creates false expectations within the industry.
For that reason, Portable says he will continue to speak up, arguing that upcoming musicians deserve room to grow without feeling blocked or weighed down by unrealistic standards.
“Wizkid, Olamide, Davido, and Burna Boy have been at the top for over 10 years and blocking the way for other artistes to come up… they also lie a lot, they can say they bought a chain for 1 billion dollars, whereas it might have been given to them for free.” — Portable pic.twitter.com/mNNIM122za
