Pretty Banks Explains Why She Accepts Political Gigs from Any Side

Ugandan singer Pretty Banks wants everyone to know she will perform at political gigs for any party.

In a sit-down with Rewind, she emphasized that she is first and foremost an entertainer and will show up for any party that books her.

Yellow, green, blue, grey, red, whatever. As long as you book me becuase I am a musician.

Pretty Banks explained that she pours heavy investment into her craft, so rejecting opportunities is simply not an option.

We invest a lot in music. So, if you book me, we agree on the fee, terms, and conditions, and you do not force me to wear anything I do not want to put on. If we agree on the terms and conditions, I am going to show up and sing for your people or my people… because why not? I am just an artiste, bro.

She also confessed that she once leaned toward a particular political party, but quickly realized it was bad for business.

I was inclined to one particular party but sat back and thought, how do fans think I will survive? I invest money in my music to make money from it. If someone books me, why don’t my fans understand that I am just an artiste who has been booked to entertain? It does not mean that I belong to that party or any other. I am just here to do my job as an artiste. The same way a DJ will DJ at a political event or any other service provider.

For Pretty Banks, politics may divide people, but music pays the bills and business must go on.
