Producer Paddyman Backs Katikkiro Mayiga in Fight Against Vulgarity in Music
Ugandan music producer Paddyman, real name Paddy Kayiwa Mukasa, has expressed his appreciation for Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga’s bold stance against vulgarity in the music industry.
According to him, this issue has been a growing concern that he and others have repeatedly highlighted, making the Katikkiro’s intervention a welcomed development.
Paddyman agreed with Katikkiro Mayiga’s view that songs promoting vulgarity should not be played.
However, he clarified that not all songs by artistes like Gravity Omutujju and Lil Pazo fall into this category, emphasizing the need to filter out only those that go against societal morals.
He described musicians as mirrors of society, whose actions reflect cultural values, upbringing, and whether a society is on the right track or has lost its way.
Paddyman noted that African culture places great importance on morality and norms, warning against forces seeking to undermine these values through music and art.
He called on families, cultural institutions, and the government to join in the fight against this trend, ensuring that art remains a positive reflection of society.
Paddyman urged calmness and respect, especially for elders, stressing the importance of preserving societal values and maintaining harmony in the industry.
