Prof. Muganga Refutes Claims of Victoria University Managing Musicians

The Vice Chancellor of Victoria University, Prof. Lawrence Coreta Muganga, has clarified that the university does not manage artistes.

This statement follows growing public perception that the institution is involved in the music business, largely due to its participation in several music events, including the high-profile musical battle between Sheebah and Cindy.

Speaking to Sanyuka TV, Prof. Muganga explained that although Victoria University is not in the business of managing musicians, it remains committed to supporting talent across Uganda.

“There are very few musicians in Uganda whom Victoria University has not helped in one way or another,” he stated.

In response to questions about singer Banina Chris and his strong ties to the institution, Prof. Muganga clarified that Banina serves as an ambassador for the university.

He added that Banina is not the only artiste in such a role, naming others like Karole Kasita, King Saha, and Sheebah Karungi.

According to him, these partnerships are built on mutual respect and shared appreciation between the artistes and the university.

He also took the opportunity to dismiss rumours that they had attempted to sign singer Cindy Sanyu, saying, “Victoria University is not a music label. So we cannot sign anyone.”
