Rachel K Opens Up About Being a Christian in a Muslim Family
Ugandan gospel singer Rachel K, born Rachel Kiwanuka, has opened up about her family, shedding light on how different religious beliefs exist within it.
Her mother, legendary singer Halima Namakula, is a devoted Muslim.
Her sister, Rema Namakula, also practices Islam.
This has often led many to assume that Rachel K would eventually convert from her Christian faith to Islam.
However, that has not been the case.
Speaking during an interview on Sanyuka Uncut, she said she has never been pressured to follow her mother’s religion.
Instead, she added that her mother gave her the freedom to choose her own beliefs, as long as she believes in something.
She also noted that despite their different faiths, the family remains closely connected and fully supportive of one another.
She gave us the option of, “Believe in something, I will support you.” She is a devoted, very serious Muslim woman, and so is my sister Rema, but they are my top supporters. It is really beautiful. As long as you have a way of life and you believe in something. That is what is important.
I am a minister, and I want to use my talent to spread the goodness of God, share positivity and hope, and uplift people. – Racheal Kay opens up about her faith journey#SanyukaUnCut #SanyukaUpdates #FfeBannoDdala pic.twitter.com/YfeY1LTv7f
