Ragga Dee Opens Up About Regrets in His Music Career and What Causes Them

After 37 years of success in the music industry, one would expect singer Ragga Dee, born Daniel Kazibwe, to have no regrets as far as his career is concerned.

Yet, the veteran artiste recently revealed that his journey in music has not been without its challenges, some so bad that they make him question his decision to join the industry.

Speaking in an interview, Ragga Dee opened up about the darker side of the music business, sharing how it has, at times, left him feeling sorry for himself.

According to him, disrespect in the music business is a significant issue.

He noted how some artistes, who have barely made a year in the business, belittle and dismiss the work of those who have spent decades shaping the industry.

“If you want to maintain your respect, the music industry is something you should stay away from,” he said, emphasizing how critics, from TV panels to social media, hurl insults without restraint or appreciation for the hard work behind an artiste’s career.

Ragga Dee also highlighted the overwhelming negativity in the industry, marked by envy and ill intentions.

He pointed to the numerous rifts within the business, such as those between promoters and musicians, managers and musicians, and even among musicians themselves.

The “Monomonomove” hitmaker further lamented the lack of standards in the industry.

“The music business has no filter,” he observed, explaining how it welcomes all types of people, whether they are good-hearted or not.

Despite these challenges, Ragga Dee remains hopeful about the potential of music.

He believes it should be a source of pride for everyone because of its unique power to touch people’s lives.
