Ragga Dee Rejects ‘Luxury Artiste’ Label, Says His Music Is for Profit
Known for his distinctive style, Ugandan veteran singer Daniel Kazibwe, alias Ragga Dee, has often been misjudged by both fans and critics.
Many have labeled him a “luxury artiste,” suggesting that he creates music not out of necessity or for financial gain, but simply to pass the time.
Ragga Dee firmly rejects this perception, stating that, for him, music is a business, just as it is for any other artiste in the industry.
The “Digida” hitmaker revealed to Sanyuka TV that his motivation to create music comes from both his passion for the craft and the desire to see a tangible return on investment.
He asked, “Have you ever seen someone invest money into something without expecting a return?”
He went on to explain, “What drives me to the studio to make a good song and produce a video costing 17 to 20 million is the hope of earning 50 million in return.”
Ragga Dee concluded by stating that no artiste in Uganda creates music without the intention of earning from it.
