Ray G Suggests Campaign to Raise UGX 1 Billion for Jose Chameleone

Mbarara’s celebrated heritage singer, Ray G, has called on all Ugandans to help raise UGX 1 billion for the legendary Jose Chameleone.

This appeal comes as Chameleone, who has been in the United States receiving treatment for acute pancreatitis, is set to return to Uganda.

In his message shared on the social media platform X, Ray G highlighted the “Valu Valu” singer’s vital role in shaping the Ugandan music industry, a contribution he believes deserves appreciation.

He wrote: “The Ugandan music industry thrives today because he sparked the fire. He carries the Ugandan flag on every stage. He is coming home soon. Let us give back to him with overwhelming love by raising UGX 1 billion for Jose Chameleone.”

The goal is to raise the money through a simple yet powerful idea: if 1 million fans contribute UGX 1,000 each, the target will be reached.

The post was met with mixed reactions, as some people supported it while others expressed opposition.

So far, Ray G has presented the idea, but whether other artistes will support his call remains to be seen.
