Recho Rey Says Some Male Rappers Are Intimidated by Her
Recho Rey believes she sits at the top of Uganda’s female rap scene, and many of her supporters feel the same way.
With hits like “Bwogana,” “Biwatto,” and several hip hop awards under her belt, the rapper, born Mirembe Racheal, says her body of work backs up her confidence.
Appearing on Flexx, she opened up about what it feels like holding her position in a space largely dominated by men.
The truth is it is quite challenging because remember, I am standing amongst men. It is quite challenging but still I do my best to prove myself.

She went on to suggest that some male rappers may feel intimidated by her presence, even if they do not openly admit it.
They are, definitely. I am sure they are, but they cannot come out to say it. They acknowledge my presence, but only in private.
However, she added that many of them show that respect when they meet face to face.
By the way, I meet some of them in person. They appreciate and tell me I am dope.

Looking ahead, Recho Rey says 2026 will revolve around new music and collaborations.
We are working on collaborations. That is going to be a big deal for us this year. We are going to make sure that we collaborate with so many other artistes. So people should expect that and definitely more music and more consistency.
Beyond the studio, she is also thinking bigger.
The rapper hinted at plans to stage her own concert, a move she believes would make her the first female rapper in Uganda to stage such a show.
