Reekado Banks Admits He Left Mavin Records Too Soon

Nigerian singer Reekado Banks has revealed that he left his former record label, Mavin Records, earlier than he should have.

Banks first rose to fame after signing with Mavin Records.

He won Rookie of the Year at The Headies 2014 and took home the controversial Next Rated award at The Headies 2015.

His time at the label helped establish him as one of Nigeria’s rising music stars.

In 2018, Banks decided to leave Mavin Records and start his own music imprint, Banks Music.

In a recent interview with reality star Teddy A on the Echoo Room, he admitted that managing his music career independently made him realize he had left the label too soon.

Banks explained that his departure was not due to any disagreement.

He said his contract had actually ended two years before he made the decision to leave.

He had signed a three-year deal but stayed on for an additional two years without reviewing the terms.

The singer said his youth and focus on his own goals influenced his decision to move on.

Looking back, he seems to understand that patience and timing might have served him better.
