Resident Evil Requiem Smashes Steam Records on Day One
It was a huge day for horror fans.
Resident Evil Requiem launched on February 27 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. Within hours, the game shot to the top of the charts and pulled in a massive 342,000 players at the same time on Steam.
That number is almost double what the Resident Evil 4 remake achieved at launch.
Developed and published by Capcom, the new title takes players back to the dark streets of Raccoon City.
Fans switch between Leon S Kennedy and FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft as they face fresh bioterror threats in a city still haunted by its past.
Early reviews have been strong. The game holds a PS5 Metacritic score of 89, with critics praising its tense atmosphere and smooth gameplay.
Even on day two, player numbers stayed above 340,000.
With a record breaking debut and solid reviews, Resident Evil Requiem has once again proved that this horror franchise still has serious power.
