Rickman Details His Dream of Playing for KCCA FC

Ugandan hitmaker Rickman Manrick previously caught many by surprise when he revealed that football, not music, was his first love and true passion.

Now, he is adding more depth to that revelation.

Speaking during a recent sit down on The Ugandan Boy Talk Show, the “Bango” singer opened up about his desire to play in Uganda’s top flight, the Uganda Premier League, saying it is an ambition he has never fully let go of.

At the heart of that dream is KCCA FC, a club that holds deep personal meaning for him.

Rickman explained that his connection to KCCA goes beyond admiration, as his father once played for the club.

I wanted to play for KCCA FC because it was part of my dream. My dad played for KCCA, and I also wanted to fulfill that, and I still have it at the back of my mind. I really want to play in the Super League, and I would love to play for KCCA.

While the desire is strong, Rickman was careful to show awareness of the realities that come with top flight football.

He acknowledged that his ambition can affect real careers, especially for younger players fighting to break through, and he does not take that lightly.

It is a bit competitive, and there are a lot of people’s careers involved. I would say I am at the prime age of football, but there are also many young stars who would love that opportunity, and I would not really want to suppress that.

Still, the dream remains alive.

Rickman said he would be open to playing for any UPL side, delivering the thought with a touch of humor as he ruled out a few KCCA rivals.

But more than anything, he stressed that even a short spell in the league would mean a great deal to him.

I would love to play in the Super League. Any team, but not Express, Vipers, or Villa, because those are our biggest rivals… but I am just kidding. I would love to play for a team in the Super League. Even if it is for half a season, I would really appreciate it and love people to see that side of me, because they did not really get to see that side. Most of the people who saw me play football saw me when I was literally young.
