Rickman Reveals Why He Snubbed Yung Mulo’s Boxing Challenge

Ugandan singer Rickman Manrick has finally explained why he chose not to take up fellow artiste Yung Mulo on a much talked about boxing challenge.

The debate kicked off after Rickman delivered a stunning second round knockout against socialite Shakib Cham Lutaaya on August 30, 2025, a fight that quickly became the talk of town.

Riding on the hype, Yung Mulo publicly called out Rickman, hoping to step into the ring next.

At the time, Rickman threw down his own condition, demanding Shs100 million from anyone bold enough to challenge him.

Many assumed the price tag scared the self-styled Badman Gadget away.

But during a recent sit down on the Ugandan Boy Talk Show, Rickman revealed that money was not the only reason he did not accept the challenge.

According to him, the fight simply did not feel right.

When I went into this, I did it for mostly the sport because I like the sport and also the friends that are in the sport that I know, and we put boxing on a certain level, and it just felt right. For people who came out after that, I felt like it was just out of what had just happened, but not love for the sport. So, it really did not feel right. That is why.

Rickman went on to draw a clear line between Yung Mulo and Shakib, saying the difference between the two is genuine passion for the sport.

For a person like Shakib, who has been training and showing that he is into the sport, he has been at the games, he supports a lot of boxers, buys tickets, you know, it feels like this is for a good cause, not really just financial, but it is for a good cause and for the love of the game.

After failing to get Rickman in the ring even with a Shs 20m offer, Yung Mulo turned his guns towards Alien Skin, but he is yet to receive a response.
