Rickman Says No to Political Allegiance, Yes to Performing At Political Rallies for a Fee

Singer Derrick Ddungu, popularly known as Rickman Manrick, has made it clear that he stays far away from politics.

Speaking on media personality Florah Show’s YouTube channel, the singer said he neither supports any politician nor participates in active politics.

Politics and I are parallel to each other. I do not engage in politics. I do not believe in politics. I do not even vote.

However, he drew a line between his profession and his political stance, saying he is open to performing at campaign rallies as long as he is paid.

Performing at rallies is about the money. If they are going to pay, it does not matter which party calls me. I will be there. In fact, they should go ahead and call me.

Rickman now joins fellow singer Kapeke, who also recently distanced himself from politics.

However, unlike Rickman, the “Kaba” hitmaker emphasized that he cannot perform at any political rally, regardless of the offer.
