Salvador Hails Growth of Ugandan Music, Notes Drop in Nigerian Performers
Patrick Salvador Idringi has praised the rising strength of local music, observing how rare it has become to see major Nigerian artistes perform in Uganda.
While high performance fees partly explain this trend, the Ugandan funnyman believes the real reason lies in a growing shift of audience support toward homegrown talent.
I cannot remember the last time we had a big name Nigerian artiste in Uganda. Besides being very expensive, I think the shift to appreciating our local artists has also been a huge factor.
Salvador went on to applaud Ugandan musicians for stepping up and delivering at a higher standard.
Our top artistes are not afraid to dare, they are also not sleeping in-regards producing quality music.
Salvador drew a compelling parallel between the music scene and football fandom in Uganda.
He recalled how Ugandans used to support other African countries during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), but says that enthusiasm has changed recently.
This reminds me of the time we as Ugandans supported other African counties in AFCON. Now, without the Cranes, the AFCON is not as thrilling as it used to be.
Salvador encouraged artistes to remain confident in their abilities, offering a message of belief and self-worth.
When you believe it, you can achieve it. Dear Artists, let’s continue believing. We are as good as we think. Our Art is up there with the rest.
Wrapping up, Salvador reminded musicians that talent is only part of the journey.
Sustained success, he noted, comes down to consistency, creativity, and most importantly discipline.
