Sammie and Shawa Challenge Fellow Comedians: “Pull Up Your Stockings”

Ugandan comedy duo Sammie and Shawa have announced plans for another comedy show next year.

While appearing on Sanyuka TV, the pair looked back on their Mukwano Mukwano Comedy Concert, which took place on May 2 at Theatre Labonita, and thanked their fans for the massive support.

Now more confident than ever, Sammie emphasized their mission to revive Ugandan comedy.

“Ugandan comedy had hit a downward spiral, but now we are working hard to get it back to the top. Being among the top 10 comedians is what Sammie and Shawa are aiming for,” he said.

Shawa boldly challenged the current state of comedy in the country, questioning whether any other comedians can truly make audiences laugh like they do.

“Just know we the top 10 comedians have come to change the industry of comedy. So you guys watching out there, you comedians better pull up your stockings because we have come for you,” Shawa said.

The pair reaffirmed their commitment to elevating the local comedy scene, with a vision for comedians to start headlining events like musicians.

“We want comedians to start being booked like musicians. We are tired of comedians always serving as curtain raisers or supporting acts,” Sammie concluded.
