Selecta Jeff Defends Lil Pazo: “Not Everyone Needs to Go Global”

Ugandan DJ Selecta Jeff has come to the defense of singer Lil Pazo, following growing criticism from commentators urging the singer to pursue a more “international” music career.

Taking to X, Selecta Jeff called out what he sees as unfair pressure being placed on the Enkudi singer to cross borders and appeal to global audiences.

Ugandan music consumers (fans) also need to get serious. I just saw an article about people putting pressure on Lil Pazo. I hear he should think about going global. Come on, guys, I know we all love the idea of exporting music and all that, but honestly speaking, it is not for everyone.

Jeff argued that artistes should be allowed to thrive within the spaces that support them, even if those spaces are not considered “global.”

Citing regions like Kyotera, Masaka, and Kayunga, he emphasized that making a living through music on the local circuit is still a form of success, and one that deserves respect.

Let some artistes make money kube-ing their Kyotera, Masaka, Kayunga in peace. Stop with all that noise. STAAAAAP. Respect to di man dem.

Selecta Jeff went on to praise Lil Pazo as “one of the biggest hitmakers this generation has seen so far.”
