When does an artiste become a legend? Is it about time, impact, or the generation you influence?
That debate resurfaced after Selecta Jeff reacted to Gen Z fans calling him a legend.
Taking to X, the Ugandan DJ and music curator admitted he was surprised by the title.
He questioned if the word had lost its meaning or if he really is one.

Traditionally, legend status has been reserved for pioneers who shaped entire eras.
But today, impact moves fast. If you define a sound and stay consistent, younger fans may crown you sooner than expected.
Selecta Jeff started out around 2014, quietly building his name behind the decks.
Then came 2020. “TIP,” featuring John Blaq, Axon, and Bantu Vibes, gave him the breakthrough moment that pushed him into wider recognition.
Since then, he has remained active and consistent, and the results speak for themselves.
Whether he accepts the title or not, Gen Z has already made up its mind.
