Sipapa’s Lawyer Confident as Inconsistencies Emerge in Prosecution Evidence

By Arthur Bogere Kazibwe

City socialite Charles Olimi, popularly known as Sipapa, together with his wife Shammirah, has now spent three years on remand at Luzira Prison over charges of aggravated robbery.

This week, they have had three court sessions, and today marks the third day of court hearings.

Today, witness number 14 took the stand.

The witness, a police officer involved in the investigation, reportedly gave statements that contradicted earlier recorded testimonies.

According to Senior Counsel Henry Kunya, Sipapa’s lead lawyer, the police witness failed to recall some critical details despite the fact that it was the police themselves who originally documented those statements.

Counsel Kunya noted that during cross-examination, it became clear that inconsistencies in the prosecution’s evidence could work in their favor.

“We are confident that with the way this case is progressing, Sipapa and his wife will overcome these charges,” Kunya said.

The case has been adjourned, and Sipapa and Shammirah are expected back in court on August 25, 2025, for further proceedings.
