Slick Stuart Calls Out Mockery Of Ugandan Artistes Flying Economy
Slick Stuart has jumped into the online debate about Ugandan artistes flying economy class, and he thinks people are focusing on the wrong thing.
As social media users continue mocking local musicians for posting economy flight videos while heading abroad for performances, the DJ says flying economy is not the real problem.
We have all flown economy before, and some of us still do. Some artistes and international celebrities still fly economy too.
According to Slick Stuart, the issue starts when people turn those moments into online jokes and public embarrassment.
The issue is not flying economy. The issue is making it look like a big deal, putting it out there for everyone, and turning it into something to laugh about. Where is the love?
The popular DJ also defended promoters organizing diaspora events, pointing out how expensive such shows already are behind the scenes.
Someone has invested heavily to make it happen. They are paying artistes, covering accommodation, handling logistics, and taking on all the costs involved. That is a serious investment made to entertain a Ugandan crowd while also trying to make a living from it.
His comments come after a heated social media debate erupted over whether Ugandan artistes should stop accepting economy flights and start demanding luxury treatment whenever they travel abroad for performances.
