Sophie Nantongo Exposes Kusasira for Chickening Out of a Music Battle

Ugandan singer Sophie Nantongo has spoken out about a proposed music battle with fellow singer Catherine Kusasira, revealing why it never happened.

Appearing on Sanyuka Tusimbudde, the “Wansumulula” hitmaker dismissed claims that she backed out from a challenge that she herself issued.

Instead, she said Kusasira chickened out, even fleeing the country when the battle was suggested.

Am I the one who feared? I told her we should do a battle, and she boarded a plane and went abroad for treatment for masavu [fats]. She is the one who feared and even boarded a plane. At first, I thought they were lying, but when I called her phone, it was roaming. I told myself they had hidden Kusasira. Later, they told me she had gone for treatment for masavu [fats] because they had become excess. So I said to myself, let me not kill my own friend, let us leave the battle.

Since then, Sophie says the relationship has been distant and communication between them has remained strained.

She added that Kusasira no longer answers her calls, even when she reaches out simply to check on her well-being.

She also revealed that the only time she managed to reach her was by calling from a number she did not recognize.

These days, I also do not understand her. Even when I call just to check on her, she does not pick. Cathy, I dropped the idea of a battle, please pick my calls and let us greet each other… She no longer picks my calls. I had to call her using a number she did not know, and she picked. I reminded her that I do not demand anything from her and asked how she was doing, and she said she is okay.

Even after everything, Sophie made it clear she is ready for a showdown, anytime Kusasira chooses to step up.
