South Africa and Ghana Team Up to Boost African Arts

South Africa’s National Arts Council (NAC) has partnered with Ghana’s Black Star Experience (BSE) to create more opportunities for artistes across Africa.

The Memorandum of Understanding will be signed on Thursday, August 28, 2025, in Johannesburg. NAC interim CEO Lebogang Mogoera will host BSE coordinator Rex Owusu Marfo.

The partnership will cover artist residencies, cultural exchange programs, heritage preservation, training, arts education, and joint research.

Leaders say this marks a new era for African creativity and opens exciting opportunities for artistes.

The NAC supports theatre, dance, music, craft, literature, and visual arts, while BSE showcases Ghana’s cultural heritage locally and internationally.

Together, the two institutions aim to elevate African arts on the global stage.
